Act I serves as a prologue to this story. The Concept TDH's six acts tell the story of a boy, or The Dear Hunter, born at the turn of the 19th century who will live a life of pain and meet an untimely death. Although it lacks the maturity and production value of later albums, the style is incredibly indicative of their later work. With just 8 songs, Act I feels more like an EP, as it is constructed to be a prologue to the Act story. And with that, let's move to the much more interesting stuff - the music.Īct I: The Lake South, The River North - September, 2006 TDH is signed by Equal Vision Records under the imprint Cave and Canary Goods. Current members are Casey (Vocals/Guitar/Keyboard), his brother Nick Crescenzo (Percussion), Maxwell Tousseau (Keyboard/Guitar), Nick Sollecito (Bass), and Robert Parr (Guitar). The band has gone through multiple roster changes, with Casey at the forefront as the songwriter and lead singer for the band. Casey's creative differences ultimately separated him from TREOS and lead to the formation of The Dear Hunter.

Short History Lesson - The Dear Hunter was originally a side project of The Receiving End of Sirens' (TREOS) member Casey Crescenzo. In order to give you just a taste of what TDH has to offer, I'm going to replicate similar posts (the one mentioned above) by giving a brief overview of each album's concept, the fan favorites, and my top 3 songs. Whether in the shower, or in a crowd surrounded by fellow fans, you'll find yourself shouting lyrics of songs you thought you had forgotten. Some songs are so catchy you'll be humming them all day, while others will literally toy with your emotions. Behind the core 'rock band' you can hear multiple layers of instrumentation that helps give every song a unique, relatable feel. I once saw someone define the band as "Alt Post Prog Rock." Personally, I think The Dear Hunter's music transcends genres, moving between Jazz (The Poison Women), Rock Ballads (Bitter Suite Part III), and even Disco (King of Swords). For those who are unfamiliar with The Dear Hunter (TDH) you may realize they sound unlike any other band out there. Since Act I was released 10 years ago, I thought it was about time we had one for this sub. I've noticed that most band subreddits have an intro guide attached to them (like u/smoomoo31's post for Coheed).
